Viglacera collaborates with leading experts to build Green - Smart Industrial Park criteria set
Green transition is no longer an option but is becoming a condition for industrial parks to participate more deeply in the global supply chain. Anticipating this trend, Viglacera has been coordinating with leading experts in green building to develop a set of Green - Smart Industrial Park criteria, piloting at several units within the system and step by step replicating the model.

Green transition - an inevitable requirement to maintain position in the global supply chain
At the seminar "Greening Industrial Parks in Vietnam" organized by the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) on July 7, 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, domestic and foreign experts agreed that: to improve competitiveness and maintain their position in the global supply chain, industrial parks need to shift from initial investment cost thinking to life-cycle efficiency, while planning sustainable infrastructure right from the initial phase.
Ms. Phan Thu Hang, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of VGBC emphasized that ESG criteria, carbon emissions, renewable energy and climate change resilience have now become important factors in investment decisions, instead of just location, infrastructure and costs as before.

Mr. Douglas Snyder, Executive Director of VGBC, added that in the context of Vietnam exporting about 50 billion USD/year to the EU in industry groups affected by the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), developing industrial parks that meet green standards needs to be approached comprehensively, combining ESG criteria with economic efficiency - from resource utilization, energy - water - waste management to biodiversity conservation and the quality of infrastructure serving workers.
Long-term planning right from the initial phase
Mr. Torsten Illgen, Chairman of Inros Lackner, believed that the most important factor when building a green industrial park is long-term planning right from the beginning, in which water resource management needs to be the focus to reduce flooding risks.
Mr. Tim Middleton, Board Member of VGBC, Senior LOTUS IP Consultant, assessed that the first step in green industrial park development is not investing in technology but building a suitable roadmap through gap analysis from reality to standards, and also stated that more and more developers in Vietnam are placing high requirements on project life-cycle costs instead of only looking at initial investment costs.

From the perspective of technical solutions, Mr. Jitender Khurana, CEO of Professional Business, Signify Southeast Asia & Far East, believed that lighting and energy solutions need to be integrated right from the planning stage, with LED systems combined with IoT potentially helping to save up to 70-80% of electricity.
Also at the Seminar, the pilot certification system LOTUS Industrial Park (LOTUS IP) was introduced as a comprehensive set of criteria assessing the sustainability level of industrial parks throughout the planning, construction and operation phases, covering criteria groups from governance, resilience, energy - carbon emissions, materials - circular economy, water resources to public health and social infrastructure.
Digital transformation and smart energy management for industrial parks
In the thematic session on digital transformation and energy management, Mr. Lien Minh Nhut, Technical Consulting Director of Schneider Electric Vietnam, introduced the smart industrial park model based on a platform combining electrification, automation and digitization to connect all devices in the park. According to him, collecting and analyzing real-time operational data helps make more accurate management decisions, thereby optimizing energy efficiency, improving operational performance and increasing adaptability to new technological trends such as AI or energy transition.

Ms. Tran Thuy Tien, Market Development & External Relations Director of Constant Energy Vietnam, further shared highly practical renewable energy solutions for the process of greening industrial parks, including: solar power systems flexibly deployed under various forms (rooftop, farm...) to provide clean electricity on-site; energy storage systems to help balance electricity consumption and increase stability for the factory grid; direct power purchase agreement mechanisms allowing businesses to access renewable energy at competitive prices without intermediaries; along with 0 CAPEX - 0 OPEX financial models.
Viglacera actively cooperates with experts to shape the Green - Smart Industrial Park model
In the process of building Green - Smart criteria for industrial parks, Viglacera has been coordinating with the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) - the sole representative organization of the World Green Building Council in Vietnam - to exchange expertise, reference assessment frameworks and update the latest sustainable industrial park development trends in the world.
This companionship helps Viglacera access international standards and practices researched and introduced by VGBC, including the pilot certification system LOTUS Industrial Park (LOTUS IP) - a set of criteria comprehensively assessing the sustainability of industrial parks throughout the planning, construction and operation phases. On that basis, Viglacera step by step perfects its own set of Green - Smart Industrial Park criteria, which both fits the actual conditions of the industrial parks within the system and approaches the standards that VGBC and the international green building community are aiming for.
This approach closely follows the exact spirit recommended by international experts: planning sustainable infrastructure right from the beginning, viewing efficiency by project life-cycle instead of relying only on initial investment costs, while synchronously integrating solutions on efficient resource utilization, clean energy, environmental control, focusing on green areas that bring emission reduction efficiency, and managing smart infrastructure based on a unified system.

This orientation is reflected throughout the main pillars: efficient use and recycling of water resources; application of clean energy along with lighting solutions and automated operations to optimize energy costs; continuous environmental control and monitoring; increasing green areas associated with emission reduction targets; and building a centralized infrastructure management and operation center, integrating digital technology and real-time data to improve operational efficiency as well as investor experience.
Pilot at Thuan Thanh Eco-Smart IP and replication roadmap
Green - Smart solutions have now been piloted by Viglacera at several industrial parks within the system, typically Thuan Thanh Eco-Smart IP and Yen Phong 2C. From the initial results, Viglacera is continuing to perfect the set of criteria, drawing practical lessons to step by step replicate the model to other industrial parks within the system, aiming towards synchronizing green - smart standards across the entire portfolio of industrial parks developed and invested by Viglacera.
The active companionship with leading experts, continuous updating according to international standard frameworks and trends, demonstrates Viglacera's long-term commitment in the sustainable development journey - both meeting the increasingly stringent ESG requirements from foreign investors, and contributing with the Vietnamese business community to building a green, modern and competitive industrial park ecosystem in the new development phase.
Also within the framework of the event, Viglacera introduced lines of building material products suitable for the industrial and factory segments, meeting green criteria, energy savings, usage costs and product life cycle. Among them, outstanding products include Energy-Saving Glass (achieving the US EPD green product standard), Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (member of the Singapore Green Building Council - SGBC), along with Tiles and Sintered Stone (meeting the US GreenGuard UL standard). These products received much interest from leading experts attending the event./.
