Groundbreaking ceremony of Vimariel Economic Zone in Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) - Cuba: Viglacera implements multinational business development strategy.

On 28th November 2018, Viglacera Corporation - JSC organized the groundbreaking ceremony of Vimariel Economic Zone in Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), Cuba. This is the first economic zone that Viglacera invested overseas. This event marked the determination to implement the Viglacera's multinational business development strategy to expand the market outside the territory of Vietnam and the creation of facilities for Viglacera's investment in building materials for Cuban and the Caribbean market.

The ViMariel Economic Zone has a favorable geographic position and synchronous investment on completing infrastructure and services. Especially, with the great support from the Cuban Government with open policies for foreign businesses, ViMariel economic zone promises to attract many hi-tech enterprises, building materials enterprises, food and consumer goods industry, electronics, and other industries.

Attending the ceremony were Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Nguyen Trung Thanh, along with many representatives of ministries, diplomatic corps and enterprises in many countries. On the Viglacera Corporation - JSC, there were Mr. Luyen Cong Minh - Chairman of the Board of Management and Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - General Director of the Corporation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz stressed the significance of the groundbreaking ceremony that took place on the occasion of the 36th on the occasion of the 36th Viet Nam-Cuba InterGovernmental meeting and also expressed his confidence in the success of the "strategic and special" project in the relationship between the two countries.

Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha speech at the ceremony 

Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is a good foundation for Viglacera Corporation - JSC to successfully implement the project and expressed his hope that the project will meet the development needs of both countries. 

This ceremony took place just three months after the ViMariel SA - a subsidiary of Viglacera Corporation - JSC in Cuba was established and the Cuban Government has formally allocated land for investment and management businesses in Zone A of the ZEDM for the first time.

General Director of Mariel Special Development Zone pledged to support ViMariel 

ViMariel economic zone has a size of over 300 ha, invests in international standards technical infrastructure and provides services that  best meet the conditions of production and business of foreign investors. The project was started phase 1 on 156 ha of which the plantation land is 119 ha, accounting for 76%.  

ViMariel Economic Zone has the following advantages: Cuba's favorable economic geographic location - the center of the Caribbean; owns a deepwater sea port - 45 km west of Havana; skilled labor force; political, social and legal environment stability; the rapid approval of the project with the support of the "one-door" mechanism; basic infrastructure available; corporate income tax exemption for up to 20 years and many other incentives...

Groundbreaking ceremony of ViMariel Economic Zone

Many foreign investors paid attention to invest in ViMariel Economic Zone on the ceremony day. 

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Director of ViMariel and EnPromoulds của - a Portuguese company signed one of the first agreements of ViMariel Economic Zone 

The investment in ViMariel Economic Zone has raised the total number of Viglacera industrial parks up to 12 zones with a total area of over 3500 ha. Moreover, it also affirms important strategic steps of Viglacera Corporation in foreign countries, as well as raising the economic relations between Vietnam and Cuba on the political level of the two countries.
