Viglacera with new opportunities in Cuba

With the goal of multinational development and revenue of 1 billion USD by 2020, Viglacera has been continuously promoting international cooperation in many fields. Continuing to define the strategy of investment in Cuba is right and long-term strategy, at the end of March, 2017, Viglacera's delegation led by General Director - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan had meeting with some Ministries, Agencies of Cuba.

Cuba is transforming itself, opening up to the world, and becoming an attractive destination for international investors. With the advantage of the island nation with more than 11 million people, located in Central America, next to the United States, in the future, the good produced from Cuba will be exported to the United States and the Caribbean conveniently.

Appreciating the potential of Cuba's development, during a meeting with Mr. Manuel Marrero - Minister of Cuba Tourism Ministry, General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan gave a brief introduction about Viglacera's capabilities. Currently, Viglacera is cooperating with many big and experienced partners in the world to develop hotel projects in Vietnam such as CHAO Group which is investing very effectively in hotels in the Middle of Vietnam. Viglacera always wish to co-invest in the development of chain hotels in Cuba (from La Havana to Varadero). Viglacera is still working with two groups, Grand Caribe and ISLAZUL on the plan to implement the partnership and is committed to implementing effective, quality and committed. Viglacera and CHAO have prepared the dossiers as well as procedures for bidding according to the Cuban proposal, prepared the financial resources and expressed our wish to be interested by the Minister to get good cooperation.

Mr. Manuel Marrero, Minister of Cuba Tourism Ministry, highly appreciated Viglacera's capacity, reputation and idea. If Viglacera be selected, The Minister is also wishes that Viglacera and partners will follow defined object to express a new face, the higher stature for the Grand Caribe Hotel in La Havana. The Minister also expressed his support for Viglacera and set a concrete goal for a successful cooperation project with Vietnam after years of unfulfilled. It is not only about economics and politics, but also about the special solidarity between the two countries and two ethnics.

In a meeting with Mr. Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz - Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ministry at the Ministry's office on March 29, 2017, mentioned about the promotion of a joint venture to produce construction materials between Viglacera and GEICON and the joint venture project of the hotel, the Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ministry appreciated Viglacera's determination to promote the establishment of the joint venture while simultaneously exchanging and agreeing on specific contents to complete the procedures to establish a joint venture as soon as possible. On behalf of the Cuban State and people, the Minister expressed his cincere gratitute to the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and Viglacera for the meaningful gifts to Makansad Central Hospital. The Minister also assessed the joint venture as the flagship project and affirmed Viglacera will be the first flag thus Cuba will support as much as possible to create maximum legal conditions to open up for foreign capital to invest in Cuba. In particular, to do exactly what was signed between the two governments, always create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba. At the meeting, Viglacera's General Director - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan specifically reported on each of the projects being implemented simultaneously in Cuba and expressed his wish that the Minister would facilitate support in terms of policy and quick resolution of the procedures while resolving expired problems quickly but not resolved thoroughly.

During the meeting with Mr. Rene Antonio Mesa Villafana, the Minister of Cuban Ministry of Construction, both sides also expressed their determination to speed up the establishment of the joint venture and set a target for creating joint venture in May 2017. Mr. Rene Antonio Mesa Villafana, the Cuban Minister of Minsitry of Construction, is also pleased that Viglacera is working on a joint venture with the Cuban Ministry of Tourism and wishes to invite Viglacera to join this field with Ministry of Construction if the project is delivered.

Also within the framework of the business trip, Viglacera's General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan worked with the Mariel Special Development Zone, welcomed the delegation, Ms. Ana Teresa Igarzar Martinez - President of the Special Zone expressed her desire to cooperate to learn the experience from Viglacera, the leading enterprise in Vietnam on industrial zone infrastructure development. The two sides have discussed and come to a unity, Mariel will deliver about 200ha for Viglacera to invest. The Viglacera side highly appreciate the potential of cooperation with the Mariel Special Development Zone and has proposed to invite Ms. Ana Teresa Igarzar Martinez, the President of the Special Zone, to visit and work with Viglacera to explore the Viglacera industrial parks which is very effective. In the year 2017 and the following years, Viglacera is expected to invite businesses which are investing in Viglacera's industrial parks in Vietnam to study and explore investment opportunities in Mariel (Cuba).

On March 31, Ms. Ana Teresa Igarzar Martinez - President of Mariel Special Development Zone and General Director of Viglacera - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, signed and handed over the certificate of land allocation to Viglacera.

Viglacera's business trip in Cuba has opened up new opportunities for the parties and confirmed Viglacera's rightful direction in overseas investment. In addition, it is the containerization of the implementation of commitments between the two Governments at annual intergovernmental meetings.
