ViMariel - a subsidiary of Viglacera in Cuba, was officially established and became the first 100% foreign-invested infrastructure company in Cuba.

On July 24th 2018, representatives of Viglacera Corporation - Vietnam and Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) - Cuba, held the official founding of ViMariel S.A, a subsidiary of Viglacera in Cuba. ViMariel S.A became the first 100% foreign invested infrastructure company in Cuba.

The General Director of ZEDM Management Office - Mrs. Ana Teresa Igarza handed over to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Viglacera Chief Representative in Cuba the founding decision and Business Registration Certificate of ViMariel S.A. 

The establishment of ViMariel SA is based on the decision 340 dated Feb 28th 2018 by the Cuban Government to allow the establishment of ViMariel SA company and to give this enterprise the right to use 156 hectares land in zone A of Mariel Special Zone. Within 5 years, ViMariel S.A. will build an industrial park with full infrastructure for road, telecommunication, electricity and water for industrial facilities. ViMariel SA has the right to exploit this industrial zone for 50 years, which is expected to attract high-tech, construction materials enterprises, electronic industry and other industries that serve the Cuban economy and Central American regions.

At the ceremony, General Director of the ZEDM Management Office - Mrs. Ana Teresa Igarza has handed over to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Viglacera Chief Representative in Cuba the founding decision notarized by the Cuban State Notary Public and the business registration certificate of ViMariel S.A. This decision is especially important when it comes to the 44th anniversary of Viglacera Corporation.

Representative of Viglacera Corporation - Deputy General Director Tran Ngoc Anh thanked the Cuban Government and pledged to work hard to complete the ViMariel project on schedule, contributing to attract more investors to this Cuban strategic development zone and thereby deepen the traditional relationship between the two countries.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Nguyen Trung Thanh and Viglacera representatives exchanged information about the industrial zone that ViMariel will invest in. 

Attending the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Nguyen Trung Thanh affirmed ViMariel is a symbol of the commitment of Viglacera and Vietnam to positively contribute to the development of the Cuba's socio-economic model, and he also emphasized that the project is a result of Vietnamese Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s State visit to Cuba in March 2018.

The establishment of ViMariel has made a practical contribution to the development of Cuba's socio-economic model 

On behalf of the Cuban Government, Ms. Igarza - General Director of ZEDM's Management Office appreciated Vietnam's experience in developing industrial park infrastructure and stressed that besides building and developing industrial zones, Cuba also expects ViMariel will help attract foreign investors to the ZEDM - the important resource in the context that Cuba's economic restructuring.
